About Anger (another segment of "Empowering Encouragement Now!")

My morning spiritual devotion was on anger, taken from Jonah 4:4 and 4:9 where "God said to Jonah, ‘Do you do well to be angry?’" God’s question was not a probe about morality- right or wrong- but a question of Job’s wisdom or use of good judgement in kindling within himself the fires of anger. Anger is not always or necessarily sinful, but it has such a tendency to run wild that whenever it displays itself, we should be quick to question its character, with this enquiry, "Do you do well to be angry?" Why should we be irritated with children, irate with employees, and intensely angry with companions? Is such anger honorable to our Christian profession, or glorifying to God? If we cannot control our tempers, what has grace done for us? Man's anger can be legitimate (2Sam 12:5). but the Old Testament Scriptures warn that anger can be outrageous (Prov 27:4), and stirs up strife (Prov 29:22). In contrast, it is said that the man slow to anger appeases strife (Prov 15:18) and a wise man turns from it (Prov 29:8). The next time you feel the emotion of anger rising up within you, ask your self the question God asked the prophet Jonah- "Do you do well to be angry?"

407. Lead Us Not Into Temptatiion
08:13During these trying days, we do best to evaluate our walk with Jesus Christ and focus our mind on Him. To enjoy the full benefits of His good pleasure, we should do as he told us to do, and ask Our Father to "lead us not into temptation, but to deliver us from evil." As individuals on the planet, walking among power brokers who have the ability to cause us great harm, one thing we can do and excel in is to avoid sin and honor Jesus with our obedience that makes Him happy and pays eternal dividends. 405. Fear No Danger!
06:21Psalm 23 continually soothes our weary and fearful souls. Today is a great day to revisit the power of God that is experienced in knowing Jesus as your Good Shepherd. The key verse for this episode is verse 4, "Even though I go through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for you are with me; your rod and staff-they comfort me." As the day of Christ's returns draws near we must prepare our hearts and minds to respond to the turmoil on this sad planet with the success of a stable, humble, happy, and redeemed heart.
