In the post-modern world in which we now live, a rational faith has been jettisoned for mystery and mysticism where metaphor is at the heart of spirituality. The emotional response generated by feelings is at the core of idolatry because it appeals to our physical senses. Fallen man longs to place the focus of his faith on something tangible in the physical realm. The human craving for this will finally be satisfied in the image of the beast, which they fashion with their own hands, comes to life and breathes blasphemy and death.Revelation 13:14-15(A metaphor is a figure of speech that makes a comparison between two unlike things. As a literary device, metaphor creates implicit comparisons without the express use of “like” or “as.” Metaphor is a means of asserting that two things are identical in comparison rather than just similar. It seems as if each day brings increasing bad news, both in the United States and across the globe. The person who follows God's lead will not fear bad news but instead face the challenge from a confident heart that trusts in the Lord. As we rely on the Lord and turn to Him in faith, we have the courage for duty and sustaining strength under adversity.
